Super Users, Super Community
At inCharge, our Super Users are exactly that! Super important to us. They are the founding families of the inCharge community, the people who believed in what we were building long before it was polished, perfect, or if truth be told, even fully functioning.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of our Super Users in person. And we proactively seek out opportunities to do that.
That might be a little unusual in the tech world, and I'm not sure if that's something to do with being a non tech founder or just how it happened, but inCharge was never designed to be a distant tech product. The relationships we’ve built with families and their support teams is built on trust, shared belief, lived experience, and genuine need.
I met Meabh and her parents in beautiful Culdaff during one of their regular visits to the amazing accessible accommodation, Hoist Away. Despite living only a stone’s throw away, it was also my first time meeting owner Una McGinley, in person. So nice to meet you Una!
The morning was full of laughter and mischief from Meabh, whose wit, humour, and sharp memory kept us all entertained.
We often talk about the solidarity and shared connection of families who support a loved one. Over coffee and cheesecake, we skip past the small talk and deep dive into the bigger conversations. There’s an openness and honesty that comes from shared understanding. We speak freely about the realities, the challenges, the funny moments, and the hopes we carry for the future.
What I love most is that these relationships are always two-way. Families listen to us, and we listen to them. Ideas for many things are tested honestly. Problems are explored together. Not just tech talk. Those conversations spark new ideas and new possibilities begin to emerge.
This morning was no different. Alongside the chats over tea about travel, the laughter, and the brainstorming, I also left with a valuable insight and an important feature idea for our roadmap. Most of our best ideas arrive this way, from real conversations with real people living real lives.
A huge thank you to Una and hats off for creating such a beautiful, thoughtful, and accessible space at Hoist Away. And thank you to Meabh and her family for continuing to shape inCharge with us.
This is what co-design really looks like. Not tick-box consultation. Relationships. Trust. Community.
