About inCharge
inCharge puts personalised care into practice.
inCharge exists because families managing self-directed care deserve tools designed for them, not for systems.
inCharge Founder and CEO Karen McCormick built inCharge after years of researching personalised care for her daughter Georgia. She couldn't find software that was person-centred, family-focused, and worked for families coordinating care in real life. So she built it.
With families. For families.
Today, inCharge helps families keep information current, coordinate shifts, and share what matters – bringing peace of mind to carers, real-time visibility to support staff, and evidence of self-directed support in action.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower people of all abilities to live fulfilling lives by providing them and their families with technology to enable more choice, control, and support in managing their care and support needs.
Our Vision
Our vision is to have vibrant, inclusive communities where people with care and support needs are active and equal members of society.
Our Values
Our values are dignity, integrity and inclusion, underpinned by choice.
Our approach
Co-design is at the heart of everything we do. We build with people who self-direct their care, families who coordinate support, and personal assistants who provide it. Their lived experience shapes every feature we create. We believe simple technology can strengthen relationships, not complicate them. When families have tools that actually work, the benefits ripple outward - better continuity for service providers, real-time evidence for local authorities. But our co-design process starts and stays with the people using the platform every day. That's how we know it works in real life
inCharge Founder and CEO
Karen McCormick
Karen founded inCharge in 2020 after navigating the complexities of managing personal budgets and direct payments for her daughter, a young adult with a learning disability. She recognised that trustworthy, user-friendly technology could transform this experience for everyone involved in care coordination.
Karen designed inCharge with the person at its heart. The app puts people central to decisions about their own lives, giving them genuine choice and control. Karen believes we all thrive through relationships and interdependence. Her experience employing personal assistants has shown her that open communication, shared values, and trust between the person, their support team, and their family create the foundation for a fulfilling life.
Today, Karen brings this human-centred approach to everything inCharge does - ensuring technology enhances human connection, never replaces it.
