inCharge x Gobby: Research Built on Listening

inCharge partnered with Gobby, a lived-experience research tool, to gather real insights from the people who make self-directed supports actually work: family members, paid supporters, and wider support teams.

This wasn’t simply a test of either platform’s MVP. Instead, it was a way for inCharge × Gobby to listen carefully to the day-to-day realities of those who balance care, communication, routines, autonomy, and their own lives. The responses revealed clear, consistent themes about what support teams need, what they struggle with, and what gives them confidence.

These themes have become a grounding force for the direction of inCharge — shaping how the product supports continuity, reduces stress, captures tacit knowledge, and strengthens team dynamics around the person.

Using Gobby gave us access to real sentiments and real-life challenges, voiced directly by the people living it every day. It surfaced the emotional landscape behind the practical tasks — the stress, the coordination load, the desire for continuity, and the fear of things slipping through the cracks.

This insight has been invaluable. It helped us understand where our testers were at, and it has also shown how much progress we’ve made. As we’ve moved into working with early adopters and paying customers, the positive quotations we’re now gathering highlight the difference inCharge is beginning to make in their confidence, communication, and ability to support choice and control:

"It allows me to spot if there might be something up with Georgia's health. We can join the dots early and nip it in the bud."

"I notice our team is more connected, not only to each other, but to the wider plan we are all working to."

"It gave me headspace to think about something else, a true lifeline."

"That peace of mind is priceless."

Gobby has proven to be a powerful independent tool for listening deeply. And these themes have become part of the ongoing foundation of inCharge: building technology that strengthens relationships, supports the person at the centre, and gives teams the peace of mind they need.
